Find Your Tribe

“Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future," a popular saying goes. Our friends can influence our thoughts, decisions, and atmosphere. And the reverse is true as well. We can influence others and create an environment that facilitates self-awareness, a growth mindset, and service to others.

We, the JSU World team, offer a sustainable and enjoyable way to read great books with like-minded colleagues. We get together weekly over Zoom, learn from both the authors and JSU participants, and experience communal learning at its best.

Through JSUs, we can keep in better touch with family & friends, have weekly "reunions" with classmates, check in with seniors & neighbors in our communities, and spend regular time with colleagues at work, church & other settings who pursue the best life has to offer.

Check out the recommended JSU books below on building a thriving community around you.

  • From “Palm Sunday: An Autobiographical Collage” by Kurt Vonnegut

“What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.”

  • From “Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones” by James Clear

One of the most effective things you can do to build better habits is to join a culture where your desired behavior is the normal behavior…Surround yourself with people who have the habits you want to have yourself. You’ll rise together!

  • From “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos” by Jordan B. Peterson

Make friends with people who want the best for you.
